Subaru owners, we understand how dealers are charging couple of thousands of dollars in all keys lost situation. This is due to the fact that their factory tools are very limited in key programming functionalities
when no keys are present. The typical procedure to add a new key is to introduce a working key to the vehicle for authorization purposes, and then program a new key. When the case comes to having no keys in hand, their tools cannot proceed and require them to replace 2 to 3 modules in the vehicle and offer 2 new keys with that. Some of the modules include the BIU, Body Integrated Unit, IC, Instrument Cluster and ECU Engine Control Unit.
With Auto Key Pro, we specialize in all vehicle key systems, including the complicated Subaru Prox and Chip keys. When the vehicle comes into our facility, depending on the type of system it is, we either finish the complete job by OBD without the need to remove modules, this process takes upto 2 hours to complete. The other technique we use for more complicated systems is removing the key module and reading the microcontrollers which contains the key information, we then use that to add new keys into the system. This does not require us to replace the modules.
